The 20-year-old star athlete just completed his sophomore season. Already, his baseball career has taken him across the country. Last summer, Chaumette spent the summer playing for the Alaska Goldpanners in Fairbanks. This spring, with the Trinity University Tigers from San Antonio, he batted a .394 which led to a pick for the Division III All-West Regional Team. Now in New England with the Bedford Bay Sox, he continues to impress.

In 2017, Rafe was First Team All-SCAC, with a .344 average, two home runs, and 38 RBI’s. This year, for Trinity, his honors included All-West Region Second Team, All-SCAC First Team. He started all 42 games with the Tigers and has an overall fielding percentage of .959.

“Playing at a D-3 (Division-three) school, you can get overlooked. It was important for myself to show I could compete with these teams.”  Young Chaumette stated in an article authored by Bill Abramson.

July 29th, Rafe will be taking center for the Southern Division All-Star game.

On July 9th, Chaumette claimed his first home run proving to spectators that he is not only consistent during the late season, he gets better. On Friday the 13th, Chaumette became the Westerners nightmare as he hit a righteous-ratio of five-for-five. His three singles, double, and two-run triple raised his average from .370 to .410. He continued his hitting streak against the Pilgrims connecting with a solid three-for-five. These are just a few of the highlights of Chaumette’s season. He earned all-SCAC honors for the second year in a row. With his stats consistently climbing, it seems there is no stopping the Sugar Land, Texas native.
